SEK, CPAs & Advisors welcomes Matthew Detar, CPA as a new Member of the Firm, effective April 1, 2023. Based in York, Detar will serve as a Commercial Audit Partner for clients in the Central and Southcentral Pennsylvania region.

Prior to joining SEK, Detar spent 20 years of his career split between two international accounting firms, the last five serving as a Director. He has worked with both publicly traded and privately held companies, ranging in size from development-stage entities to Fortune 500 companies. His diverse background includes serving organizations in the manufacturing, distribution, construction, technology, and financial institution industries, as well as organizations with private equity ownership.

Detar’s experience includes financial statement audits, reviews, and consultation on complex accounting and financial reporting matters such as derivatives, mergers and acquisitions, revenue recognition, expected credit losses, and other technical accounting areas. He is also well-versed in performing employee benefit plan audits, including audits of defined benefit and defined contribution plans.

In addition to his client responsibilities, Detar is a frequent presenter of internal and external technical accounting training. Outside of the office, Detar enjoys photography, hiking, boating, kayaking, and spending time with his wife Ashley, their three children, and their black lab.
